It seems that fond memories of childhood are a large factor that influence car buying habits of the older generation.

Of the top ten selling cars to people aged 65 and older from 2009 and 2010, eight are from American brands Cadillac, Lincoln, Buick, and Chevrolet, according to TrueCar.

While the cars that make up the top ten are not a total shock, the percentage of buyers in the senior bracket certainly is.

One surprise on the list comes in at number 11, because over half the buyers of the Porsche's Panamera sedan are over 65.

As the data from this list is for the 2009 to 2010 model years, a few of the cars have since gone out of production and left a large void in the marketplace.

Hopefully we will soon see what cars have moved up to take their place.
